A couple of weeks ago, we joined Duncan Greive in The Spinoff’s studio to record an episode of his media podcast, The Fold: Bauer, five years on – Ensemble, Here and the rise of the independents.

We talked about our journey (we turn five in August!), the realities of lifestyle media in a shifting news landscape, walking away from Stuff, joining Substack and what it means to stay honest and independent in an age of churn and media chaos.

The episode also sees Duncan chat to Simon Farrell-Green of architecture magazine Here - another independent title that launched in 2020, after the collapse of magazine company Bauer (Simon was then editor of Home and Zoe was editor-in-chief of FQ, Miss FQ and Simply You).
